THE “ASK”

The Honda Anna Engine Plant required a new safety guard with a week-turnaround, by reverse engineering it. The piece was broken, cracked and malformed from years of use.

HOW IT’S USED

Protect workers from getting entangled while working in cam shaft machining area. This is the part that is manufactured to be used in engines to operate the intake and exhaust valves, and mechanically control ignition systems.

UNIQUE ABOUT THE SPECS

With the focus on safety as a top priority, we were asked to fix the metal guard until a replacement could be made. We then reverse engineered one, along with building a spare, without any designs — and within a week and a half turnaround.

HOW WE HELPED THE CUSTOMER

The line had to be shut down while the piece was reverse engineered so we were able to pull the guard off, take photos and measure it; and have it back on within hours.
